A common language for our identity
After a prolonged period of market growth, a new macro-economic scenario developed in 2007, accompanied by an international climate of financial instability, producing significant differences in trends in the construction materials industry between the emerging countries and the mature countries. After the record results of 2006, 2007 was a year of consolidation for Italcementi, driven primarily by the performance of the emerging markets, especially in the Middle East and the Far East, where the Group achieved further growth.
In addition to improving industrial efficiency and containing operating expenses, in part through on-going research into new technological solutions, in 2007 the Group confirmed its commitment to international growth with a series of major acquisitions in China, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. So during 2008 we shall be working to establish a greater balance between the contributions from our production network in the mature countries and those in the emerging areas, where growth rates are higher.
Within this general picture, the Group will be strengthening its policy commitment to economic, social and environmental responsibility founded on an ethically based Corporate Governance model, industrial growth that respects natural resources and even greater attention to local community needs. Innovation, Corporate Governance and Sustainable Development continue to be the three pillars of Italcementi Group strategy everywhere we operate.
In 2007, ten years after the creation of the first Group Corporate Identity, we restyled our logo and reviewed and updated the values underpinning our vision and mission. Our vision of “A world class local business” where the Group’s world ambitions are integrated with its local values in each single country means playing a leading part in the realization of a better, sustainable future for all our stakeholders wherever we operate. This vision flanks our mission: to create value in the construction materials industry through innovative, sustainable use of natural resources to the benefit of the community and our customers.
A common commitment based on the five core values that guide the Group’s operations and decisions day after day: responsibility, integrity, efficiency, innovation, and attention to differences. These values will be the foundation for Italcementi to guarantee constructive relationships with all our stakeholders: shareholders, customers, suppliers, collaborators, society and institutions.
