Italcementi Group operates in Morocco through Ciments du Maroc with 3 cement plants in Agadir, Safi and Marrakech, 2 grinding center in Laayoune and Ait Baha, 4 quarries, and 25 concrete batching plants. Since the acquisition of Asmar in 1999, Ciments du Maroc (listed at the Casablanca Stock Exchange and set up in 1992 through the merger of Cimasfi and Ciments d’Agadir) has been the second largest cement manufacturer in Morocco and has become the first Moroccan concrete producer through controlled Betomar.

At the beginning of 2007 Ciments du Maroc announced an investment for over
€ 280 million to build a new cement plant in Ait Baha. The new plant is going to replace the one in Agadir which is about 50 km away and will increase the facility production capacity up to 2 Mt. The plant, which began operation as a grinding centre in November 2009, is expected to start clinker production in mid-2010.
Ciments du Maroc is planning to make an additional investment to build a wind-power plant for the production of electrical energy in order to supply its own plants.
