Friday 13 March, Italcementi Group (through ICC – International City for Concrete) has launched a new ready mix production facility at Rabigh in Saudi Arabia, located on the northern boundary of King Abdullah Economic City (around 90 km north of Jeddah). The plant, which has 7 silos and 80 truck mixers, is placed close to areas designated for a port and for industrial areas, and has a capacity of around 1 Mm3/y making it one of the biggest in the world.

ICC - International City for Concrete, a joint venture between Italcementi and Arabian Cement Company, has begun production to meet the high demand generated by the construction of King Abdullah Economic City, the biggest of the six new towns conceived and promoted directly by the Saudi King to modernise the country's infrastructures and create new urban centres to meet the needs of one of the world's fastest growing populations (3% a year).

International City for Concrete development plans foresee a rapid expansion of business in the west of the kingdom with the construction over the next three years of further plants to serve the Jeddah, Mecca, Taif and Medina markets.

Present at the inauguration ceremony were Italcementi Group CEO Carlo Pesenti and Muhammad Taher Uthman, CEO of ACC and Chairman of ICC, together with local authorities including the Italian Consul General in Jeddah Adriano Santacesaria, and Renato Catania, Sales Manager at the Italian Consulate.
