 In 2001, Halyps Buildings Materials successfully implemented an ISO 14001 Environmental Management System. The company was certified by ELOT, the Greek Independent Standards Association, after a 6 month process that involved the entire management team and a significant number of employees.
Although environmental management is a new area of company concern, operation managers are responsibly implementing it every day.
It allows systematic evaluation of the interaction of cement, services and processes with the environment , and of the options for improvement, using "virtuous circle" logic.
ISO 14001 certification reduces the chance of operational failure resulting in environmental damage.
Halyps environmental reports are submitted on a regular basis to the Greek Authorities for verification and control, and as a result of the reliability of these reports, authorities that once criticized the company now applaud its achievements.
