Cement manufacturing is highly energy and material intensive.
Responsible use of resources can help reduce environmental impacts by decreasing the specific energy and materials demands.
Around 99% of the Group thermal energy consumption is in the cement production processes. Coventional fuels are:
- pet coke
- coal
- fuel oil
- natural gas
- lignite
- high viscosity fuel.
Thermal energy demand of cement opearations is summerised hereunder:

New kilns scheduled to come on stream by the end of 2009 will henceforth trigger decrease of the Groups specific consumption.
In 2008, the Group consumed 88 million tons of raw materials in cement production.
90% of total materials used for cement production are:
- natural limestone
- clay
- marl
- gypsum.
