The Group aims to preserve biodiversity and protect ecosystems with quarry rehabilitation as a starting point.
Going beyond compliance requirements, the Group is committed to implement rehabilitation plans for all active quarries, focusing on gradual rehabilitation of land at operational sites as well as full restoration once the quarry closes. In parallel, the Group is mitigating other environmental effects, such as noise, dust and traffic.
The approach applies to 273 quarries, 74 of which contain, or are adjacent to, areas designated for their biodiversity value:

The Group's commitment is in line with the launch of 2010 as the International Year of Biodiversity by the United Nations.
