The Group Sustainable Development Steering Committee (SDSC) is the:
- pillar of the Sustainability management structure
- lies under the chairmanship of the Chief Operating Officer
- is coordinated by the Director of the Sustainable Development Department (SDD).
The SDSC:
- translates the Group’s vision into specific actions
- monitors the Group’s sustainable development and its implementation at subsidiary level
- defines communication programmes.
In 2008, new management tools were deployed across the Group, including effort towards standardisation and effective off-shore policy challenging minimum requirements.
Horizontal integration involves responsibility areas such as Human Resources, Group Technical Centre and Procurement Department.
Vertical integration activates local SDSCs under the chairmanship of the country Managing Directors, to reinforce the sustainable governance chain and speed up alignment among business sectors.
The SDD continuously supports the strategy at Group and local level through workshops, focused communications, audits, site visits, assistance, training, sharing of best practices and field activities.
