Country : Bulgaria
Company: Devnya Cement
Objective: plant upgrade to improve the production capacity and reduce emissions.
Project: The project is already authorised, approved and about to enter the construction phase. The five existing wet process kilns will be shut down, leaving the whole production operation to a modern dry process, equipped with a double-string five-stage preheater and calciner, designed for a capacity of 7,000 tons of clinker per day. A vertical roller mill for cement finish grinding and advanced auxiliary facilities for material storage and handling will complete the renewed layout. While increasing the plant production capacity, the new line will dramatically reduce the energy consumption: 50% less specific thermal energy demand, 30% less specific electrical power use. As a consequence, reduction of specific direct CO2 emissions is forecast to be 30%, saving further indirect emissions. Significant cuts of air emissions are expected, aligning the plant to the best available techniques.
